First run
The first person to reach a fresh server sets its password. Do this right away.
- Choose Open Aardy Photo Server… from the Aardy menu-bar icon, or open http://localhost:8737/ in a browser on the same Mac (or
http://<mac-ip>:8737/from your laptop or phone on the same network). - On a fresh server you'll see Set an admin password to get started. Enter a Password, repeat it in Confirm, and click Set password. The first person to reach a fresh server sets the password — do this immediately, before anyone else on your network can. Choose a strong one; this password protects access to your library.
- After that, the admin shows a Sign in form whenever you're signed out.
- You're in the web admin. The navigation bar has Source Folders, Packs, Marked, Apple TVs, and Settings (plus Sign out). Every screen has a ? button with help for that screen. The next guides walk through each.
Pairing an Apple TV isn't done in the web admin — you start it from the Aardy menu-bar icon with Pair a new Apple TV… (see Pair an Apple TV).
The admin password is your server's front door. There is no default credential and no account with us — the security of your library depends on setting a strong password here.
