Privacy Policy

Effective 2026-10-18

Aardy is made by Aardvark Software LLC ("we", "us"). This policy covers Aardy for Apple TV, iPhone, Mac and Windows, and this website. Short version: we do not collect your photos or personal data, and there are no accounts, analytics or tracking.

The short version

Your photos

Aardy for iPhone reads only the Photos albums you choose, and sends them over your local network to your Apple TV or to your Mac or PC running Aardy. It never uploads them to us.

Aardy for Mac and Windows read the folders, drives, NAS shares and Photos albums you point them at, keep their library on that computer, and serve it to your Apple TVs over your local network. Their web UI is available to devices on your network and is protected by a password you set.

Aardy for Apple TV receives photos from your own iPhone or computer and stores them on the TV so they can keep playing.

Places and captions

Aardy for iPhone uses Apple's reverse geocoding service to turn the location stored in a photo into a place name. This sends that photo location to Apple and is governed by Apple's privacy policy. Landmark data comes from open datasets (OpenStreetMap, GeoNames) used on your own devices.

Weather

If you turn on weather, your own Mac or PC (not the TV, and not us) requests a forecast from MET Norway for the location you configure. MET Norway therefore receives your computer's IP address and the coordinates you chose, under its own terms.

Tutorial videos

When tutorial videos are offered, the app fetches them from our content delivery network. Like any web request, this reveals your IP address and the file requested to the network operator. We do not use it to identify you.

Purchases

Aardy for Apple TV is a one-time purchase handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive no payment details and do not know who you are; Apple provides us only aggregate sales reports.

This website

This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Our web host may keep ordinary server logs (such as IP address and page requested) for security and reliability, and deletes them on a short schedule.

Sharing

We do not sell or share personal data, because we do not collect it. The only third parties that ever see anything are Apple (purchases, reverse geocoding) and MET Norway (weather, via your computer), as described above.

Children

Aardy does not collect personal data from anyone, including children under 13.

Your choices

Delete a pack, folder or album to remove its photos from Aardy. Uninstalling an app removes its data from that device. Turn off weather in your Mac or PC settings. Revoke Photos access any time in iOS Settings.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will post the new version here with a new effective date.
